Mixed Media Photography

It always starts from a photo or a theme of photos.

There is often a period of dreaming, researching, and experimentation. Then I choose a substrate to print it on - handmade paper or Irish linen are my favorites. Often if I have a series, I prefer the embellishment to be subtle as in a simple straight embroidery stitch - allowing the photograph to be the main focus. Other times, it is a messy, playful project resulting in a textile journal of a day trip to the forest. I try to listen to my inner self and go with where it takes me. Each piece of finished art is unique.

My inspiration many times comes from the various “Archetypes” we all have within us. This exploration of my inner world is endlessly fascinating as it colors my perception of the outer world.
